The 2024 SWIFT Conference & Expo saw a record-breaking turnout of 454 attendees for a non-equipment year. Held at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre from September 17-19, the event focused on the industry’s challenges and opportunities as passenger numbers are set to surpass pre-pandemic levels.
This year’s theme, ‘Better Together, Working Together,’ was reflected in every discussion, covering staff wellbeing, winter operations, sustainability, and new tech integration. Thanks to collaboration with RCAC and BCAC, both large hubs and smaller regional airports were well-represented. CAPTG sessions also had record attendance, diving deep into developments in airfield pavements.
“This year’s event has been fantastic and we’re thrilled the YVR team helped build on the momentum from SWIFT 2023,” said Beth Henschel, Director of Airside Operations at Vancouver Airport Authority. “The ‘Better Together’ approach was a hit with both hub and community airports, and early feedback has SWIFT on track for an even bigger event in 2025.”
At the closing ceremony, Todd Browne, Associate Director of Airfield Operations at GTAA, introduced a special video message from Deborah Ale Flint, president and CEO of GTAA, announcing that SWIFT 2025 will be hosted by the Greater Toronto Airports Authority in Niagara Falls from Sept 23-25.
